THE FUN WAY TO WEIGHT LOSS, Never Diet Again
Maintaining a healthy weight and doing lots of healthy exercise are both important goals. Meanwhile, we are bombarded with temptations to stray, and self-control is difficult. Probably the only way we’ll succeed is if we make diet and exercise FUN! And if we make something fun enough, it will become our lifestyle/way of life, and no longer a chore/work.
Here are some tips from diet guru Karen Kelley, owner of Trimm-Way Weight Loss Center (https://www.trimmway.com).
ENJOY FOOD BUT EAT LESS: Think before you eat — is it worth the calories? Avoid big portions. Use smaller plates, bowls and glasses. Eat slowly — put your fork on the table between bites. Stop eating before you have that ‘full’ feeling, then wait 20 minutes; you probably won’t feel that you need to eat more.
INCREASE YOUR ACTIVITY LEVEL: Exercise is key to weight loss. Do a 15-minute power walk every day. If you already exercise, add 12 minutes at a different time of day to jar the system. Add some Yoga moves, and include some resistance training to increase muscle mass to burn more calories.
EAT MORE FIBER: Trader Joe’s fiber muffins have 12g fiber, and apples are also great. Drink lots of water with your high fiber foods, so the pectin and fiber will expand.
PARTY ON: Continue having fun while shedding pounds. Learn how to order at restaurants — I urge my clients to text me beforehand to make smart menu choices. Even at a pasta-laden Italian restaurant, you can have a side order of meatballs with a garden salad, and just say no to the bread basket. Eat a small apple with a glass of water 1 hour before going out to a party or restaurant, and you’ll feel less hungry.
In June, I went to Karen to see what I could do to still eat and drink wine and have fun but get rid of some lbs. I tried all sorts of diets, nothing worked because I AM A FOODIE! She taught me how to eat 5 times a day, small portions but lots of protein and it worked. No carbs after breakfast and I can drink wine and lose weight. She is amazing! You can clearly see the results and this is NOT a Diet. 12 pounds gone in three months! And I eat all the time!
