I am in the San Francisco Bay Area, and like everyone I wanted to help in any way I could when I heard about HARVEY and IRMA.  So I donated blood and money.  The AABB Interorganizational Task Force on Domestic Disasters and Acts of Terrorism issued a news release calling for blood donations across the country.

In the wake of HARVEY and IRMA, countless blood drives have been canceled, collections suspended and donor centers closed in the affected areas.  We need more blood now.  This process takes less than an hour and does not hurt.  The Blood Centers have internet service, well, mine did.  I went to my local blood bank called  BLOOD CENTERS OF THE PACIFIC.  

I called the nearest Hospital and was referred to give blood to this organization.  They send blood to people who need it most, near or far and your donation can go to save up to three people. ( Please note, if you weigh less than 110, you cannot donate.  I was on the borderline so I drank TONS of water and ate TONS of food after to avoid becoming dizzy. )  It is also important to load up on iron prior to donating blood:  https://www.healthambition.com/8-ways-increase-iron-levels/ 

Next step, money.   I donated to THE AMERICAN RED CROSS.  This organization is a 501(c) (3) non-profit and donations are tax- deductible.  It is v easy to give and they do have the facilities in place to offer the most effective relief as they are well established.

Hand in Hand will air LIVE 8:00 ET  and again at 8:00 PT on Tuesday Night, September 12th on CMT, ABC, CBS, FOX, FACEBOOK, and NBC.  The Telethon will take place in Los Angeles, New York, and Nashville.  This Telethon will benefit other great organizations such as  The United Way, Habitat For Humanity, Save The Children and others.  They also have great entertainment:  Beyonce, Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Justin Timberlake, Tom Hanks, Gwen Stefani, Ellen DeGeneres and George Clooney… just to name a few.

On October 1, 59 people lost their lives and over 500 people were injured in Las Vegas in another horrifying mass shooting incident.  Emergency rooms, trauma centers, and intensive care units in Las Vegas are overwhelmed with the victims.
