FIT or FAD: Coconut Oil. It Is Not Good For Me

OK, so I was one of the 600 or so people who attended GOOP.  So, I know.  I know.  You have to be informed and smart before you take “alternative medicine” to heart.  But, I was also one of the millions of people who opted in to the whole coconut oil health thing!  OMG!  I just got back from seeing my doctor for my annual health exam who said “Annie, you are extremely healthy but what the hell happened to your cholesterol level?  It went up 30 points!?”
“Well, I have been cooking with coconut oil.”  “Is that your only change?”  He asked.  “Yes.”  I said.  His response: “STOP IT!”
So, I am going back to see my doctor in 3 months.  My bet, I do NOT need medication, I can fight my high cholesterol with my diet:  https://www.popsugar.com/fitness/Oil-Bad-You-43807334.  So NO MORE COCONUT OIL!  It is, I think by evidence NOT good.  https://www.seattletimes.com/life/wellness/coconut-oil-its-really-not-that-good-for-you/.  Time will tell, stand by.

We have old information and new information.

Old Fave: Olive Oil. New Fave: Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is pressed from the pulp that surrounds the avocado pit. It’s got a buttery flavor. “Good” monounsaturated fat makes up about 72% of its calories, the same as olive oil.

“The monounsaturated fat in avocado oil helps protect your heart by reducing LDLcholesterol levels and improving your blood pressure numbers,” says Washington, DC, dietitian Rebecca Scritchfield, RD.“Avocado oil is also high in vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that can help to reduce inflammation.”
